Nonprofit Leadership Summit

Application Process Closed for 2017

The Idaho Nonprofit Center and the Idaho Community Foundation are pleased to announce the launch of the Nonprofit Leadership Summit. Generously supported by the MJ Murdock Charitable Trust, Kissler Family Foundation, the Heart of Gold Fund, and Wells Fargo, the program is designed to strengthen and support Southwest Idaho nonprofit organizations to deliver more effective programs and sustain their operations through training in leadership development, board development, strategic planning, fundraising and more.

Unique in its scope, the Nonprofit Leadership Summit will bring together a select core of nonprofit leaders and board members for five dynamic sessions over a five-month period. Participants will learn from locally and nationally known experts, share ideas with their colleagues and peers and graduate from the program with knowledge to guide their organizations to new levels of growth and sustainability.

Participants who successfully complete the program will be eligible for grant funds to use in furthering their organization's sustainability efforts through board or staff development, strategic planning, and more.



By participating you will have the opportunity to:
  • Gain a greater understanding of your leadership strengths and areas for development
  • Examine the mission impact of your organization's programs
  • Build a working business model for a sustainable program or project
  • Determine next steps to grow and sustain your leadership
  • Create a collective of peers for ongoing support of your progress towards sustainability



Five interactive trainings will connect the following topics:

  • Building Leadership From Within
  • Financial Leadership and Fiduciary Responsibility
  • Leading the Way Through Collaboration
  • Building Leadership through High-Performance Collaboration and Communication
  • Bringing it all together - Creating the Strategic plan, Inspiring and Evaluating Board Leadership



Eligibility Requirements:

The Nonprofit Leadership Summit is designed to accommodate fifteen organizations, which must each commit to sending two individuals - an Executive Director/CEO and a board member - to each of these five sessions. Organizations must have:
  • an annual operating budget of $500,000 to $2.5 million
  • offer multiple programs and be in a growth phase
Preference will be given to organizations that are members of the Idaho Nonprofit Center and/or grantee of the Idaho Community Foundation.

The Summit will launch with a full-day session on June 13th. The remaining sessions will be held on July 11th (morning), August 8th (morning), September 19th (morning), and October 10th (full day). Participants are required to attend and actively contribute to all sessions. Participants will be selected through an application process.



Tuition and Scholarships

Tuition for the 2017 Nonprofit Leadership Summit is $1,000 for members of the Idaho Nonprofit Center or grantees of the Idaho Community Foundation, and $1,500 for others.

Scholarships of up to $500 are available. If you wish to request a scholarship for your organization, please submit an additional one-page letter that includes the amount of your request and describes why receiving a scholarship may be determining factor for your organization to be able to participate in NLS.

Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on April 28th. You will be notified no later than May 19th.
