Summer Slowdowns?

Encouragement from Janice Fulkerson, Executive Director

The dog days of summer, known as the warmest days of the year in northern hemisphere, usually occur in July and August. Whether you reference Roman or Greek lore, or the Old Farmer’s Almanac, they are named after the Dog Star, Sirius, and are upon us with record breaking temperatures. This is the time of year we may be seeking a summer slowdown from the hustle of a typical day in order to take a road trip, do some camping, or go on a river trip.

While there may not be summer slowdowns in the work we do, this is a great time of year to revisit strategic plans, update employee handbooks, start gathering content for end of year campaigns/annual reports, catch up on board job descriptions, and more. Visit our Research and Resources webpage or contact us at the Nonprofit Center if you need some ideas to get started.

The awards recognize the outstanding accomplishments of Idaho’s nonprofit community. All nominated organizations will be recognized at the Idaho Nonprofit Center’s annual conference in September.

Any registered 501(c)3 organization based in Idaho is eligible for nomination. The Center will accept nominations and each organization will be categorized based on their operating budget. The two categories will be nonprofits with operating budgets less than $250,000, and nonprofits with operating budgets with more than $250,000. A winner in each category will be selected from three geographic regions, north, southwest, and east Idaho.
